5 Areas Where You Can Save Some Money During New Home Construction

Have you decided to build your next home after not having luck finding one on your own? If so, you likely have a budget that you are trying your best not to exceed. Here are some areas where you can save money on new home construction.

Tile

The tile you pick can make a big difference in the price of your home. You can always start by picking out the type of tiles that you like based on their looks. If a specific type of tile is too expensive, you can go back and find an alternative tile that achieves the same look. For example, you may be surprised to see the price of a natural stone tile when compared to a ceramic tile that looks the same.

Lighting

Your home's lighting can quickly cause you to overspend. Consider putting more expensive lighting fixtures in key areas, and more basic fixtures in the rest of the home. The dining room, master bedroom, and kitchen island are three areas where you may want to spend money on what you want. Use cheaper lighting fixtures for the rest of the home

Countertops

Much like with tile, there are countertop materials out there that resemble the high-end natural stone countertops that you may have your eye on. You may not even be able to tell the difference between a quartz and granite countertop, except when you see that quartz is going to cost you far less money. Consider using high-end quartz in your high-traffic areas that need it, such as your kitchen and bathroom, and use low-end quartz elsewhere.

Appliances

Chances are that you have a pretty specific idea in mind when it comes to the appliances that you want. However, it is worth looking into discounts from various manufacturers. For example, you may find a manufacturer that will throw in a matching dishwasher if you purchase an oven and refrigerator from them.

You should also be mindful of how much money you pay on your home's secondary appliances, such as a wine cooler. You shouldn't be purchasing the appliances at the high end for secondary appliances. You can often find appliances that work just as well at a much lower price point.

Hardware

All of the knobs and handles that you use on your cabinets can really add up. You may look at the price difference between single handles, but not realize how much that additional cost adds up when you put them on every cabinet and drawer in your home. Hardware is also something that is easy to upgrade later if you have the opportunity to do so.
